Heading into the new season without Nuno at the helm, Wolves will take some getting used to this year. Can Bruno Lage get the club back into the top half? Or will they struggle?

After gaining promotion from the Championship in 2018, Wolves adapted seamlessly to the Premier League – securing back-to-back seventh-place finishes.
Last season, however, they slipped to thirteenth, with Nuno leaving the club and joining Tottenham. New head coach Bruno Lage will surely be eager to turn things around.
With Raul Jimenez out for most of the campaign, Wolves struggled for goal last term. In fact, they finish 2020/21 as the fifth-lowest scorers in the Premier League – netting just 36 goals in 38 games.
They lost 17 games, too. Considering they only lost nine the season before, it’s safe to say they were nowhere near their best last term.
Following a successful loan spell, Rayan Ait Nouri has joined Wolves on a permanent basis. Jose Sa has also come in the replace the departed Rui Patrico in goal.
Portugal winger Franciso Trincao has the potential to be a star for the Wanderers, having signed on a season-long loan from money-stricken Barcelona.
33-year-old goalkeeper Rui Patrico has followed compatriot Jose Mourinho to Roma, leaving Wolves after three years at the club. The Molineux outfit have also sent five players out on loan.
Raul Jimenez – Having suffered a fracture skull last season, the fact that Jimenez can even play this season is a miracle in itself. If he can rediscover his best form, he could be lethal.
The Mexican striker has racked up 48 goals and 18 assists in 110 appearances for Wolves since joining the club from Benfica back in 2018.

Wolves have the potential to get back into the top half of the table again this season. But if they want to do that, they will need to start scoring more goals.
If Jimenez can contribute on a regular basis – and players such as Pedro Neto and Adama Traore remain consistent – Wolves will almost certainly get back to their best.
