7th placed Rennes still have a chance of achieving a possible top five finish in Ligue 1 as they trail 5th placed Lens by only two points but they face a tough assignment on Sunday evening as high-flying PSG pay a visit.
Rennes had recently put together a promising run of impressive results as the hosts were unbeaten in six games, winning five of these matches which had lifted Rennes up into striking distance of the top five in the French top flight.

Victories over Strasbourg, Metz, Nantes, Angers and Dijon will no doubt give Rennes plenty of confidence as they prepare for the visit of PSG, but the hosts do head into this upcoming encounter at their Roazhon Park on the back of a 1-0 loss away from home at Bordeaux.
Stade Rennais also suffered a dismal sequence of results at home from mid-January through to the end of February as the hosts went five matches without a win, losing three of these games but they’ve since bounced back with three home wins on the trot.
PSG may have been dumped out of the Champions League by Manchester City but the Paris club remain firmly in the race for this season’s Ligue 1 title as they trail the current leaders, Lille, by a single point prior to this weekend’s action in the French top flight.
On the domestic front, Paris St. Germain have won their last four matches on the trot with victories gained over Strasbourg, Saint-Etienne, Metz and Lens and they’ll be keen to continue this impressive momentum on Sunday evening when they take on Rennes at Roazhon Park.
Since the turn of the year, PSG have lost just four of their 18 matches played, with three of these four defeats being inflicted upon the Paris outfit on home turf at their Parc des Princes, while on the road, PSG have been in impressive form of late.
Overall, PSG have won 12 of their 17 away matches to date in this season’s campaign and they bring a six-match winning streak on the road into this clash against Rennes, scoring a total of 18 goals and conceding just 4 in reply.
PSG have won four of the last five meetings against Rennes in Ligue 1 and the visitors should hold the upper hand again on Sunday too.
