Lyon will play host to lowly Lorient at their Groupama Stadium in Saturday’s Ligue 1 clash with the hosts keen to build upon their recent 3-2 win away from home at Monaco which earned Lyon a valuable three points in their bid for a possible Ligue 1 title.
Lyon had previously stumbled to a 3-2 loss at home to league leaders, Lille, though in their previous game which has now given Lille a six-point lead over Lyon but having won three of their last four games overall, Lyon will be confident that they can keep the wins rolling against a struggling Lorient outfit.

Lyon have lost just three of their last 15 matches overall in the French top flight but the concern s that all of these three defeats were incurred at their Groupama Stadium against Montpellier, PSG and Lille, who incidentally also all sit in the top eight of the division.
However, the likes of forwards, Depay (19 goals) and Toko Ekambi (12 goals) will be looking to fire Lyon to all three points here.
Onto Lorient, and the visitors will be going in search of a third league win on the trot in the domestic top flight following recent back-to-back wins in Ligue 1 against Bordeaux 4-1 and a 2-0 win against Angers.
Indeed, that’s now three wins out of the last five games for Lorient as the visitors had earlier posted a 1-0 win against Brest as well but it’s worth noting that all three of these wins were achieved on home turf at their Stade Yves Allainmat, where nine of their 10 victories to date have been collected.
Results away from home tell a very different story though as Lorient have managed to pick up just the one win from their 17 matches on the road to date this season which came in the shape of a 3-1 victory at Reims, but 10 defeats within this period suggest that this upcoming clash at Lyon could prove to be another difficult outing for Lorient.
Throw in the fact that Lorient also possess the second-worst defensive record away from home in Ligue 1 (which includes just one clean sheets) and it’s clear to see why the visitors are scrabbling for survival near the bottom of Ligue 1.
This should therefore be a straightforward win for Lyon here.
