Despite being held to a 1-1 draw away from home at Roma in midweek, Sunday’s hosts, Atalanta, extended their unbeaten run in Serie A to six matches and having won five of these six games overall, Atlanta will be in confident mood when they play host to Bologna at their Gewiss Stadium.
Recent victories over Spezia, Hellas Verona, Udinese, Fiorentina and most impressive of all, a 1-0 home win over Juventus, has helped Atalanta up into 3rd spot in the Serie A standings and just a point behind AC Milan.
It’s been an extremely solid and successful Serie A campaign for Atalanta who have suffered just two defeats out of their last 23 matches overall, while at their Gewiss Stadium, Atalanta have won their last five on the trot which also includes an earlier win against Napoli.
Three of these five wins have also beaten the -1 asian handicap line too with victories collected over Napoli 4-2, Crotone 5-1 and a 3-1 win against Spezia, so the hosts look set to add to their points tally here.
Bologna have produced a much more modest campaign in Serie A this season and their mixed results throughout the season has placed the visitors in a mid-table position of 11th which is just about right.
The visitors finished in 12th place at the end of last season and another mid-table finish looks to be on the cards for the visitors this term as well and with just one win from their last four matches overall, Bologna may struggle against Atalanta here.
Bologna’s one success from their last four matches came in the shape of a resounding 4-1 home win over 15th placed Spezia but losses to Inter Milan and Roma show that the visitors are vulnerable against the top teams in the division.
Victories on the road have also been hard to come by for Bologna who have managed to record just two wins out of their last 12 matches on their travels which also includes six defeats, so Bologna are expected to have their work cut out here this Sunday.
Atalanta have won the last six meetings at home on the trot against Bologna and a seventh victory looks to be on the cards here as Atalanta look to overhaul AC Milan into 2nd spot.
