On Sunday afternoon, Lazio will look to revive their bid for Champions League football next season when they host Benevento at the Stadio Olimpico. The game will see brothers Simone and Filippo Inzaghi go head-to-head on opposite benches.
Lazio have worked themselves back into the Champions League picture after a poor mid-season run of results.
There is still plenty of work left for Simone Inzaghi’s team if they are to claim a top spot this season, though, as the Biancocelesti are sixth-place in the table, six points adrift of fourth place Atalanta.
However, the Eagles have a game in hand on all their direct rivals in the fight for participation in European football’s elite competition next season.
Lazio have hit form at the right time too, as a 1-0 win at Verona, last time out was their fourth straight victory in Serie A.
Their recent home form has also been a big positive, as the team from the Italian capital have won their last eight league matches at the Stadio Olimpico while scoring at least two goals in six of the victories.
Benevento look to be close to their season goal of surviving in the Italian top-flight this season. Filippo Inzaghi’s team are eight points clear of the relegation zone in the Italian top-flight.
The visitors would have been in an even more comfortable position in the table if it were not for a recent poor run of form in Serie A.
In fact, the Stregoni head into this clash on the back of just one win in their previous 14 matches in the Italian top-flight.
One factor in that poor recent run of results is a lack of goals, as only 19th place Parma have scored fewer goals in Serie A than Benevento this season.
Forebet predicts that Lazio will continue their recent good run of form in Serie A and put themselves right back in the thick of the fight for the Champions League spots.
