There’s just the one fixture being played in La Liga 2 on Tuesday night but nevertheless an important one as hosts, 6th placed Rayo Vallecano, look to further cement their place in the top six of the Spanish second tier.
Furthermore, they could lift themselves as high as 4th spot with a win at their Estadio de Vallecas against Mirandes.

Rayo Vallecanoc have pressed their claims for a possible top six finish in style in recent weeks as the hosts have won four of their last five matches overall in the domestic second tier, collecting victories over Real Zaragoza, Alcorcon, Almeria and Girona, with their one loss during this sequence being to 5th placed Sporting Gijon.
Rayo Vallecano have lost just once in their last seven matches overall while form and results at home have been generally solid enough as their home record of W10 D2 L4 24 goals for, 14 goals against, indicates.
In addition, Rayo Vallecano are unbeaten in their last three meetings against Mirandes and along with keeping five clean sheets at home to date, Rayo Vallecano have scored 2 goals or more in 9 of their 16 matches to date at the Estadio de Vallecas.
Mirandes currently occupy 12th place in the La Liga 2 standings and they’ve managed to win just one of their last five matches overall, or two of their last eight matches, which have come in the shape of wins against Malaga and Sporting Gijon.
It’s been an inconsistent season overall for the visitors who have W12 D8 L12 overall to date in this La Liga 2 campaign but they do carry a threat on the road as Mirandes as they’ve picked up the 5th highest number of away wins so far this term.
Mirandes seemingly have very little left to play for though at this stage of the season as they’re 11 points adrift of Tuesday’s hosts, Rayo Vallecano and the top six, while also holding a nine-point cushion above the relegation zone as well.
Results away from home have been very hit-and-miss too as Mirandes’s away record of W7 D1 L8 indicates, but they head into this clash having lost three of their last four matches on their travels.
Rayo Vallecano look the more consistent outfit here and the hosts look set to add to their points tally on Tuesday night.
