Newcastle will be hoping to end a six-game winless streak when Tottenham Hotspur visit St. James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.

A wretched run has seen Newcastle slip to seventeenth place in the Premier League table, just two points clear of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Tottenham find themselves sixth, having won four of their previous five Premier League matches.

Not only have Newcastle failed to win any of their last six games, but they have also managed to win just two of their previous 18.

In fact, Steve Bruce’s men have picked up seven wins from 29 league outings this term, with only three bottom three winning less.

After losing to Chelsea and Manchester United, Newcastle were able to stem the tide with three straight draws against Wolves, West Brom and Aston Villa.

However, the Magpies were crushed 3-0 by Brighton before the international break, leaving them perched just outside the drop zone.

Newcastle saw just 34% possession and recorded one shot as they were totally outclassed by the Seagulls last time out.

Things were looking bleak for Tottenham when they posted a run of five losses in six Premier League games not so long ago.

But having won four of their previous five league matches, Jose Mourinho’s men have kept their top-four dreams alive.

Spurs have netted 12 goals across their last five league games, keeping three clean sheets along the way.

Still, let’s not forget that Tottenham were beaten 3-0 by Dinamo Zagreb just before the international break.

Spurs’ league form may have improved in recent times, but there is no hiding from the fact that Tottenham have frailties.

Head-to-head: Spurs have picked up a win on each of their previous three league visits to St. James’ Park.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have only beaten Tottenham once in their last seven meetings in all competitions.

Team news: Isaac Hayden, Fabian Schar, Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin are all injury doubts for Newcastle.

On the flip side, there are question marks over the fitness of Tottenham quartet Ben Davies, Son Heung-min, Sergio Reguilon and Matt Doherty.

When you couple Tottenham’s recent form with their record in the fixture, all the signs point towards an away win on Sunday.

Forebet predicts that Spurs will score over 2.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to victory over Newcastle.
