After being held to back-to-back 1-1 draws recently in the Bundesliga, 4th placed hosts, Eintracht Frankfurt, will be seeking to go one step better this Saturday when they play host to 7th placed Union Berlin at their Deutsche Bank Park as the hosts look to hold onto their top four spot.

Results overall have been pretty steady and reliable for Eintracht Frankfurt who have suffered just the one defeat out of their last 14 matches overall in the German top flight, that being a 2-1 loss away from home at Werder Bremen.

Nine wins during this impressive 14-match sequence has helped the hosts up into the top four and contention for a possible Champions League spot next season, so they’ll be desperate to get back to winning ways this weekend.

It’s interesting to note that 11 of these last 14 matches have also produced goals for both teams while at home.

This trend has featured prominently in Eintracht Frankfurt’s games with 11 of their 12 matches resulting in both teams scoring.

Frankfurt manager, Adi Hutter, looks to have just one absentee in the shape of defender, Toure, for this clash.

Union Berlin also have reason to be confident ahead of their trip to the Deutsche Bank Park as they bring a solid looking five-match unbeaten run into this upcoming clash but this includes just two wins, while drawing the other three.

Victories over Freiburg and Koln have helped Union Berlin up into a creditable 8th place in the Bundesliga table and they trail 6th placed Bayer Leverkusen by just two points ahead of this weekend’s domestic top flight action.

There’s everything to play for then on Union Berlin’s behalf too and although the visitors may ultimately come up short this Saturday afternoon, they’ve shown enough this season to indicate that they could at least hit the back of the net in this clash as the visitors have scored in nine of their 12 away matches to date.

Defenders Giesselmann and Lenz are expected to miss out through injuries along with forwards Awoniyi and Becker, but Union Berlin also have previous when it comes to scoring against their hosts.

Five of the previous six meetings between these two clubs have seen both teams score and this trend looks set to continue on Saturday.
