4th placed Sevilla will be eager to return to the more familiar surroundings of their Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán for this Sunday’s local derby clash against Real Betis following last weekend’s 2-1 defeat away from home against Elche.
In fact, that defeat against Elche was Sevilla’s second loss on the trot in La Liga as they previously suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to high-flying Barcelona but Sevilla know they can’t afford any more slip-ups with the likes of Real Sociedad and indeed, Sunday’s visitors, Real Betis, who are both hot on their heels.

Previously, Sevilla had strung together an impressive six-match winning streak which has lifted the hosts up into the top four and contention for a Champions League spot next season, and having won five of their last six matches at home, Sevilla will still feel confident about their prospects on Sunday.
The bigger picture shows that Sevilla have lost just three out of their last 23 matches at their Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán and Sevilla manager, Lopetegui, looks to have only one absentee for this clash, which is midfielder Vidal with a muscle injury.
Real Betis currently sit in 6th place in the La Liga standings with the visitors’ cause being helped by winning their last four league matches on the trot with victories gained over Villarreal, Getafe, Cadiz and Deportivo Alaves respectively.
Indeed, Real Betis have lost just one of their last 10 matches overall in the Spanish top flight which came in the form of a 3-2 loss at home to Barcelona but earlier wins against Huesca, Celta Vigo and Osasuna set the visitors on their way.
It should be noted though, that the majority of Real Betis’s aforementioned wins have been achieved against teams sitting in the bottom half of La Liga while results away from home have been inconsistent; 6 wins, 1 draw and 6 defeats make up their 13 away matches so far this season.
Goalkeeper Martin and midfielder Camasara are both expected to be sidelined for this clash and won’t feature in what could prove to be a pivotal match for both sides here.
Sevilla have won five of the last six meetings at home against Real Betis and the hosts look to hold the edge in this encounter too.
