Borussia Dortmund are enjoying an underwhelming Bundesliga campaign, to say the least. BVB are currently six-place in the German top-flight table, four points adrift of fourth-place Eintracht Frankfurt in the fight for those lucrative top-four spots.
Edin Terzic’s team heads into this clash on the back of a 4-2 defeat by Bayern Munich in their last league outing and a 2-2 midweek draw with Sevilla in the Champions League. The latter saw the home side book their place in the quarter-finals of European football’s elite competition.
Their recent results have summed up the inconsistent nature of Dortmund’s performances this season. The fact that BVB have won just three of their last nine league matches also illustrates their inconsistent displays.
One slight positive for Dortmund of late is that they are five games unbeaten at Signal Iduna Park, although they have won just three of their last eight league matches on home.
If Dortmund are having a bad season, then it is nothing compared to the woeful campaign that Hertha Berlin are enduring. Pal Dardai’s team are just three points clear of the relegation zone and two above the relegation play-off spot.
However, a 2-1 win at home to Augsburg last time out in the Bundesliga ended a nine-game winless run for the team from the German capital. A record of seven defeats in their previous ten league games is still a poor one, though.
Hertha’s away form has not been great in recent months either, as they have now failed to win in eight games on their travels in the Bundesliga.
