On Wednesday evening, reigning SPL champions Celtic host Aberdeen at Parkhead, as the visitors look to consolidate their position in the leagues top-four.
Celtic’s chances of retaining their SPL crown now look highly slim, as the Hoops are 18 points behind city-rivals Rangers in the race for the title. Neil Lennon’s team does have a game in hand on Steven Gerrard’s team, but the gap now looks unbridgeable.
All Celtic can do is keep winning in the hope that the leaders will drop enough points for them to catch them. To be fair the champions have put together a four-game winning run in the SPL, while scoring at least two goals in each of the victories, so they have not given up just yet.
By their high standards of previous seasons, Celtic have been in indifferent form of late at Parkhead, winning just two of their previous five league games on home soil. On the flip-side, though, Celtic have also lost just once in nine home games in the SPL.
Aberdeen are currently fourth-place in the table and enjoying a solid campaign so far in the Scotland Premiership. However, the Dons recent league form has been highly concerning.
Derek McInnes’ team have now won just one of their previous nine matches in the Scottish top-flight, including failing to win in five league games.
Aberdeen’s biggest weakness of late has been finding the net. The visitors have now failed to score in their previous five matches in the SPL. However, they have also kept clean sheets in four of their last six games in the Scottish top-flight.
To say that Aberdeen have been travel sick in recent months would be an understatement, as the Dons have won just once in their last ten games in the SPL.
Forebet predicts that Celtic will prolong Aberdeen’s current winless run by recording a victory in a high-scoring clash.
