Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund clash at Estadio Roman Sanchez Pizjuan on Wednesday for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie.

The two sides last faced each other during the 2010/11 Europa League group stage, with Sevilla going unbeaten against Dortmund that season.

Having registered four wins, one draw and on defeat, Sevilla finished second in Group E – one point behind Chelsea and eight points ahead of Krasnodar.

The Spanish side did the double over Krasnodar and Rennes, but only managed to picked up one point from a possible six against Chelsea.

A 1-0 victory over Huesca on Saturday means that Sevilla have now won each of their last five matches in La Liga.

In fact, Sevilla have only lost one of their 12 league games, sealing nine wins and two draws during that period.

Youssef En-Nesyri has been Sevilla’s standout performer this term, netting 17 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions so far.

Borussia Dortmund recorded the same group-stage record as Sevilla (W4-D1-L1), finishing three points ahead of Lazio at the top of Group F.

However, when it comes to their domestic commitments, it’s fair to say that Dortmund have not been good enough this season.

Sixth-place Dortmund already find themselves 15 points behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga table and three points outside the top four.

Since the turn of the year, Dortmund have only managed to win three of their eight league matches, with two draws and three defeats coming in that time.

Last time out, Dortmund were forced to come from behind to rescue a 2-2 draw with Hoffenheim on Saturday.

Head-to-head: Sevilla and Dortmund have only faced each other on two previous occasions, with the Spaniards yet to taste defeat in this fixture.

Sevilla beat Dortmund 1-0 at home back in 2010/11, before securing a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture in Germany.

Team news: Sevilla will be without injured two Oscar, Marcos Acuna and Lucas Ocampos for Wednesday’s match.

Borussia Dortmund have Marcel Schmelzer, Axel Wutsel, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Roman Burki sidelined through injury at the moment.

Dortmund’s recent unpredictability means that this match is likely to be a high-scoring affair, with goals at both ends of the pitch.

Forebet predicts that Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund will both score over 1.5 goals on Wednesday, with a draw looking like the most probable outcome.
