Lazio will be aiming to record their sixth straight Serie A win when off-form Cagliari visit Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night.

Lazio’s resurgence has seen them move up to sixth in the table – nine point behind league-leaders AC Milan.

At the other end of the standings, a dismal 13-game winless run means Cagliari are eighteenth – just three points clear of last-place Crotone.

Following an inconsistent start to the season, there is no denying that Lazio have upped their game since the turn of the year.

After drawing with Genoa in early January, Lazio have since beaten Fiorentina, Parma, Roma, Sassuolo and Atalanta.

Lazio have scored over 1.5 goals in each of their previous five games, keeping two clean sheets along the way.

Having clinched the Golden Boot in 2019/20, it’s safe to say that Ciro Immobile has picked up where he left off last season.

The prolific striker has already scored 18 goals in 23 games this term, including 13 goals in 18 Serie A outings.

Cagliari managed to win three of their opening seven league matches this season, but it’s been all downhill since then.

They have failed to win any of their previous 13 Serie A games, registering eight defeats and five draws in the process.

Looking at the bigger picture, Cagliari have won just four times in their last 30 games in the Italian top-flight.

Behind bottom-club Crotone, Cagliari have the second-worst defensive record in the league, having conceded 38 goals in 20 games this term.

Head-to-head: Lazio have won each of their previous five meetings with Cagliari, claiming a 2-0 win in the reverse fixture back in September.

In fact, Lazio are unbeaten against Cagliari since 2010, picking up 15 wins and four draws during that period.

Team news: Lazio will be without injured quartet Luiz Felipe, Thomas Strakosha, Felipe Caicedo and Danilo Cataldi this weekend.

Cagliari also have four players sidelined through injury at the moment, with Marko Rog, Zito Luvumbo, Andrea Carboni and Alfred Duncan all unavailable.

Given that Lazio haven’t lost any of their last 19 games against Cagliari, it is difficult to imagine the visitors bucking that trend on Sunday.

To make matters worse for the Cagliari, they are enduring a woeful run at the moment, while Lazio are in flying form.

Forebet predicts that Lazio will score over 1.5 goals and keep a clean sheet while securing a comfortable victory over Cagliari on Sunday.
