RB Leipzig vs Bayer Leverkusen is the biggest game of the weekend in the Bundesliga, as second place takes on third.
RB Leipzig suffered a 3-2 defeat in what was a five-goal thriller away at Mainz last weekend. Leverkusen missed out on their chance to close the gap between themselves and Leipzig as they went down 1-0 in their own backyard against Wolfsburg.
Three points separate the pair heading into Saturday’s match, so Leverkusen have a second chance to go level with Leipzig.
The last three meetings between these two clubs have ended in 1-1 draws and six of their last seven encounters have seen both teams score. RB Leipzig haven’t lost any of their last five games against Leverkusen, so should be confident of securing at least a point this weekend.
The host’s form has been hot and miss of late with Leipzig picking up three wins, one draw and two defeats from their last six matches. The same can be said for Leverkusen who have won two, drawn one and lost three during that same period.
Both teams have scored in three of the home side’s last four fixtures, while four of Leverkusen’s last six matches have produced goals for both sides.
RB Leipzig will be without Konrad Laimer, Benjamin Henrichs, Dominik Szoboslai, Kevin Kampl and Yussuf Poulsen due to injury, but Ibrahima Konate could return from his spell on the sidelines.
The visitors could welcome back Mitchell Weiser from injury, but won’t be able to call upon Lars Bender, Julian Baumgartlinger, Patrik Schick, Sven Bender, Santiago Arias and Paulinho.
Both sides will be keen not to lose this match and their recent history points towards the game ending all square. Neither side can claim to be in the best of form right now and both have some key players out through injury.
With all that in mind, a bet on Saturday’s game to end in a draw with both teams to score looks like the sensible way to go.
