Ajax to move further clear at the top of the Eredivisie

On Thursday night, Ajax have a chance to move four points clear at the top of the Eredivisie, as the reigning Dutch champions welcome Willem ll to the Johan Cruyff Arena.

The Amsterdam giants are currently a point clear of second-place PSV Eindhoven, who have played an extra game than Erik ten Hg’s team in the Dutch top-flight. Ajax are unbeaten in their last nine matches in all competitions, having recorded seven wins in the process. A 2-1 win over Fortuna Sittard was the home sides fourth straight win in the Eredivisie.

The team from the Dutch capital have certainly had an eye for goal of late in Eredivisie, as they have scored at least two goals in six of their nine unbeaten outings.

Forward quartet Antony, Dusan Tadic, Quincy Promes and Lassina Traore have all pulled their weight in attack, with Tadic the home sides top scorer on nine Eredivisie goals.

Ajax have a strong recent record in the Eredivisie on home soil of late, as they have won seven of their previous nine home games in the Dutch top-flight.

Willem ll are in major trouble at the bottom of the Eredivisie table. The visitors are currently 17th place out of eighteen teams, four points from the safety of 15th place. However, they are just a point adrift of Den Haag who are in the relegation play-off spot.

Gery Vink’s team are on a truly woeful run of form heading into this tough clash, as they are winless in nine Eredivisie games, having suffered seven defeats.

Willem ll’s away record has played a big part in their current position, as they have won just one of their last 12 league games on their travels.

Forebet predicts Ajax will record a victory in a high-scoring clash to move further clear of PSV at the business end of the Eredivisie.
