Burnley will be looking to build on their shock victory over Liverpool when Aston Villa visit Turf Moor in the Premier League on Wednesday.

Sean Dyche’s side currently find themselves fifteenth in the table – ten points behind eighth-place Aston Villa and seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Burnley have only managed to win five of their 18 league games this term, yet they were able to end Liverpool’s lengthy home run last week.

Despite seeing just 28% possession on Merseyside, the Clarets became the first side to beat the Reds at Anfield in the league since April 2017.

Ashley Barnes scored the only goal of the game, converting from the penalty spot on 83 minutes. Meanwhile, Liverpool registered 27 shots.

Burnley have also been in good form on home soil recently. Indeed, Dyche’s men have only lost one of their previous six games in all competitions at Turf Moor.

Last time out, Jay Rodriguez netted a brace and Kevin Long also got on the scoresheet as Burnley claimed a 3-0 FA Cup victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

As for Aston Villa, they claimed an easy 2-0 win against Newcastle on Saturday, with goals from Ollie Watkins and Bertrand Traore getting the job done.

The Villains enjoyed 60% possession and racked up 14 shots against the Magpies, while the visitors could only manage one shot on target.

Behind Man City and Tottenham, Villa have the third-best defensive record in Premier League, having conceded just 18 goals in 17 games.

Goalkeeper Emi Martinez has kept nine clean sheets in that time, achieving a shutout rate of 52.9%. Only Man City’s Ederson has kept more clean sheets (ten).

At the other end of the pitch, Dean Smith’s men have also been scoring plenty of goals. Only five teams have netted fewer Premier League goals than Villa this term.

Head-to-head: Aston Villa have only lost one of their last six meetings with Burnley, taking four points from a possible six in this fixture last season.

Burnley’s last victory over Villa came all the way back in 2015. Since then, Villa have claimed two wins and one draw against the Clarets.

Team news: Burnley have no fresh injury worries ahead of Wednesday’s clash, with Charlie Taylor the club’s only doubt.

Aston Villa will welcome back John McGinn from suspension, although Kortney Hause is sideline with a foot issue. Wesley remains a long-term absentee.

Burnley have picked up a number of positive results recently, but it feels like the momentum is firmly with Aston Villa at the moment.

Forebet predicts that Aston Villa will add to their impressive clean sheet tally on Wednesday, edging Burnley with a low-scoring win
