Villarreal to boost European hopes at Huesca

On Saturday afternoon, Villarreal will look to enhance their hopes of a Champions League place this season when they travel to struggling Huesca in La Liga.

Huesca are bottom of La Liga and new head coach Pacheta has a big job on his hands to keep the home side in the Spanish top-flight. The former Elche boss made a losing start, as his team went down to a 1-0 defeat at Getafe in his first game in charge.

The defeat last time out means that Huesca have now failed to win in six league matches, having lost on five occasions, including their last four league games.

Their biggest failing so far this season has been in front of goal, as they are the lowest scorers in the Spanish top-flight, with just 14 goals scored in 19 league outings.

Huesca have won just once in their previous nine matches on home soil in La Liga while losing three of their last five league matches at the Estadio El Alcoraz.

Villarreal look to be well-positioned to challenge for a Champions League spot this season, as Unai Emery’s team are fifth-place in the table, only below fourth-place Sevilla courtesy of an inferior head-to-head against the Andalusians.

The Yellow Submarine head into this game on the back of a three-match unbeaten run in the Spanish top-flight. A 2-2 home draw against Granada last time out ended a two-game winning run for the visitors in La Liga.

Emery’s team have rediscovered their goalscoring touch of late, scoring at least two goals in each of their last three league matches. Midfielder Moi Gomez has scored in his last two league appearances, after failing to find the net in the opening 14 league games.

Forebet predicts that Villarreal will continue their promising recent run in La Liga by recording a victory in a high-scoring encounter.
