The Stadion im BORUSSIA-PARK will play host to this upcoming clash between Borussia Moenchengladbach and Werder Bremen in Tuesday night’s encounter in the Bundesliga with a precious three points up for grabs for both teams here.
M’gladbach were held to another draw on the weekend as they drew 2-2 away from home at Stuttgart which became M’gladbach’s fourth stalemate in seven matches in the German top flight and resulted in Tuesday night’s hosts dropping down to 8th place on the Bundesliga ladder.
Overall form though has been pretty steady from Moenchengladbach as they’ve suffered just one defeat out of their last nine matches which was a 2-1 loss at home to Hoffenheim, but wins against Schalke, Arminia Bielefeld and most impressive of all, a 3-2 win at home against Bayern Munich have kept them in the frame for a possible top six finish.
Five draws out of these last nine matches though is worth bearing in mind, while at home, M’gladbach have drawn four of their eight home matches to date this term.
Werder Bremen did themselves a favour by recording a 2-0 home win against Augsburg in the weekend’s action in the Bundesliga which in turn lifted the visitors further away from the relegation zone and up into 12th place.
However, wins in the German top flight have been hard to come by for Werder Bremen who have collected just two victories out of their last 13 matches overall, which includes an earlier win over Mainz 1-0 away from home.
Five defeats within this 13-match sequence though have prevented Werder Bremen from moving higher up the Bundesliga table while the draw has also been prevalent, featuring no fewer than six occasions in this period and another stalemate cannot be ruled out on Tuesday night either.
Having drawn four of their last seven matches away from home, Werder Bremen are something of the ‘draw specialists’ on the road in this season’s Bundesliga campaign with only Wolfsburg (5) being involved in more stalemates on their travels this term.
Three of the previous five meetings between M’gladbach and Werder Bremen have also ended in stalemate and Tuesday night could see both teams take a share of the points which may not be a bad result for either side.
