On Saturday evening Stuttgart host Monchengladbach at the Mercedes Benz Arena, as the visitors attempt to get back into the Bundesliga European spots.
Stuttgart are enjoying a solid return to the Bundesliga after promotion last season. Pellegrino Matarazzo’s team are currently sitting tenth in the table and a victory would move the Reds onto to level points with the visitors.
The home side’s recent league form has not been great of late, as a 4-1 win at Augsburg ended a mini three-game winless run in the Bundesliga. The result continued Stuttgart’s impressive away form.
However, the top-flight new boys have failed to win any of their seven Bundesliga games on home soil this season. They have also conceded at least two goals in three of their last four league matches on home soil.
Matarazzo will be looking to his talented front three of Nicolas Gonzalez, Sasa Kalajdzic and particularly top scorer Silla Wamangituka to fire them to their first home win of the season in the Bundesliga.
Monchengladbach are experiencing a poor league campaign by the high standards set by Marco Rose’s team in recent seasons. A poor run at the end of 2020 has seen the Foals drop to seventh-place in the table.
However, there has been an improvement of form in recent games, as the visitors have recorded back-to-back Bundesliga wins over Arminia Bielefeld and last time out Bayern Munich. The latter was particularly impressive, as they bounced back from going two goals down to beat the reigning champions 3-2.
Despite their underwhelming league results of late, Monchengladbach have remained prolific on their travels in recent months, scoring at least two goals in five of their previous six outings on the road in the Bundesliga.
