La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid will be aiming to extend their winning streak to four games when they visit Mendizorroza to face Alaves on Sunday.

Diego Simeone’s side currently sit two points clear at the top of the table, with two games in hand over second-place Real Madrid

Meanwhile, Alaves are down in thirteenth place – 17 points behind Atletico and just three points clear of the relegation zone.

Atleti have lost just one of their 14 La Liga games this term, with 11 wins and two draws coming along the way.

Remarkably, Simeone’s men have conceded just five goals – half as many as Sevilla, who have the second-best defensive record in the division.

However, their attacking game hasn’t suffered. Atletico have netted 27 league goals this season, while only two sides have scored more.

Looking at the bigger picture, Simeone’s side have only lost three of their previous 33 outings in all competitions.

Last time out, Atletico claimed another clean-sheet victory. Luis Suarez bagged his eighth goal in 11 league appearances as the Madrid outfit beat Getafe 1-0.

As for Alaves, they were held to a 1-1 draw by Osasuna in their previous game, despite playing against ten men for thr majority of the match.

Ruben Martinez was sent off after just eight minutes, yet Alaves failed to take advantage and only managed one shot on target.

It is no secret that Alaves have struggled at home in recent times. Indeed, they have only won two of their last 12 La Liga games on home soil.

With a record of W4-D6-L6 this season, it’s fair to say that Alaves have struggled for consistency throughout 2020/21.

Head-to-head: Atletico Madrid head into Sunday’s clash on the back of a ten-game unbeaten streak against Alaves, with six wins and four draws coming along the way.

Alaves’ last victory over Atletico came all the way back in 2003. Needless to say, they haven’t enjoyed this fixture in recent years.

Team news: Atletico will be without Kieran Tripper on Sunday, as the English right-back continues to serve his ban.

Alaves have two notable absentees at the moment, with Rodrigo Ely and Pere Pons both sidelined with injuries.

Given the contrasting form of these two sides, anything other than an Atletico win would be a big shock on Sunday.

Forebet predicts that Atletico Madrid will keep yet another clean sheet while clinching a comfortable victory over Alaves.
