After beating title-rivals Tottenham in midweek, Liverpool will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table when they visit Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Eagles head into Matchday 14 on a three-game unbeaten run, picking up five points from a possible nine in recent weeks.

Palace’s hot streak began with a 5-1 thrashing of West Brom a fortnight ago. Roy Hodgson’s side then held Spurs to a 1-1 draw.

Last time out, Christian Benteke gave Palace the lead against West Ham. However, the game eventually ended 1-1, with Benteke seeing red midway through the second half.

The Eagles currently find themselves in 12th place, having won five of their 13 Premier League matches this term.

Hodgson will be happy that his team have only lost five games in 2020/21, but he will know that is will be difficult to avoid defeat on Saturday.

On the flip side, Liverpool come into this one on the back of a nine-match unbeaten streak in the Premier League.

Five wins and four draws have seen the Reds up a three-point lead at the top of the table, losing just once all season.

Jurgen Klopp’s men appeared to be heading for a draw on Wednesday. Son Heung-min canceled out Mohamed Salah’s opener, but Roberto Firmino scored a 90th-minute header to seal all three points.

In fairness, Liverpool dominated the match, enjoying 76% possession and racking up 17 shots, 11 of which were on target.

Following a shaky start to the campaign, it feels like the defending champions are finally starting to get into their groove.

Head-to-head: Liverpool have won each of their previous seven Premier League encounters with Crystal Palace.

The Reds thrashed the Eagles 4-0 at Anfield back in June, following a 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign.

Team news: Liverpool will be without injured stars Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, James Milner, Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota on Saturday.

However, it is thought that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joe Matip are close to returning to full fitness following lay-offs.

As for Crystal Palace, they will be without the suspended Christian Benteke following the striker’s red card last time out.

Mamadou Sakho, Connor Wickham, Martin Kelly, Wayne Hennessey and Nathan Ferguson are all injured for the Eagles.

Palace are expected to continue their scoring run this weekend, but Liverpool are likely to outscore the Eagles.

Forebet predicts that Liverpool will score over 2.5 goals on their way to victory at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
