A tired Manchester City drew nil-nil in a stale Manchester Derby at the weekend versus Manchester United.

The draw did not hurt Manchester City in the long run as Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool drew as well in their respective games.

The Cityzens are still six points away from the top of the table. A win against West Brom in midweek would pull them within three points of the table. Meanwhile, Liverpool host Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield and both sides could slip up giving Manchester City a path to the top of the standings.

West Brom are in the relegation zone. They have taken just six points from 36 possible and are on the fast-track back to the Championship.

Slaven Bilic’s team are coming off of back-to-back league losses in which West Brom conceded five times to Crystal Palace and two to Newcastle United. The good news for Bilic is that his team are still just three points from safety.

Pep Guardiola’s team may be fatigued, but just two injuries have been reported. Eric Garcia is ruled out until January 2nd due to an injury. Sergio Aguero is suffering from a stomach issue which could keep him out of action.

Without Aguero to score goals this season and link the team’s attack, Manchester City do not have a goalscorer in the Premier League’s top 10. Riyad Mahrez currently leads the team in goals scored with four in nine league appearances.

Bilic will be without Matheus Pereira due to a red card suspension. Meanwhile, Conor Townsend and Hal Robson-Kanu are both ruled out of the game. Bilic could get Sam Field back in time for the game as he regains his fitness following a bout of coronavirus.

West Brom’s leading goalscorer is Callum Robison. The forward has just two goals in 12 league appearances. Conor Gallagher has also scored two goals but in four fewer appearances.

Three of the last four games between Manchester City and West Brom finished with both teams scoring goals. The last 11 games between these clubs finished with over 2.5 goals scored. The two clubs should see over 2.5 goals between them once more this week.

Manchester City may be coming off of a derby draw, but should rebound by pushing West Brom aside with ease. The Cityzens and baggies should combine for over 2.5 goals in a high-scoring game at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola’s team will take a step closer to the top of the table for at least 24 hours. If Liverpool and/or Spurs drop points, the title could be back on for Manchester City.
