On Saturday afternoon, two of the teams at the bottom of the Bundesliga meet, as Arminia Bielefeld host Mainz at the Schuco Arena.
The home side has found life back in the German top-flight tough going after winning promotion last season. They have picked up just four points from nine league games this season and are 17th place in the table.
However, the good news for the home side is that they are just a point behind Mainz who occupy the relegation play-off spot. They are also just two points from safety. A win here could be a big shot in the arm for their survival chances.
The problem is that league wins have been in short supply for Uwe Neuhaus’ team, as they have won just once in the German top-flight. To make matters worse they have also suffered seven straight league defeats while conceding at least twice in their last six games.
Home advantage has not offered much in the way of comfort either, as Arminia Bielefeld have lost their last three matches on home soil in the German top-flight.
Mainz are nowhere near out of trouble yet, but there are signs that the visitor's form is improving, as they are now unbeaten in three league games after a 1-1 draw against Hoffenheim last time out. Despite the more positive recent run of form, a record of just one league win this season is a concerning one.
One factor in those poor recent Bundesliga results is a lack of clean sheets, as the visitors have not kept a clean sheet in the German top-flight this season.
Mainz ended a run of four straight defeats away from home in their last Bundesliga match on their travels, as they recorded a 3-1 win at Freiburg.
Forebet predicts that Mainz will continue their revival by recording just their second league win of the season to add to the home sides woes.
