Sunday sees the continuation of the Italian Serie A fixtures and Roma play host to Sassuolo in a top three clash with both teams looking to bounce back with a win following heavy defeats.

Roma were handed a heavy 4-0 defeat away from home against an emotionally-charged Napoli team who were mourning the loss of former playing legend, Diego Maradona, and although the scoreline was a little surprising, the fact that over 2.5 goals featured was expected and this could be the case again in this upcoming clash.

Sunday’s hosts had previously put together a strong run of results which saw Roma unbeaten in their preceding seven matches overall in Serie A and included wins against Udinese, Benevento, Fiorentina, Genoa and Parma, while goals came along for the ride with five of the seven matches resulting in over 2.5 goals.

Indeed, of Roma’s nine league matches to date in Serie A, seven of these nine have seen three goals or more scored while the bigger picture at their Stadio Olimpico has seen 11 of Roma’s last 14 home matches resulting in over 2.5 goals.

Sassuolo also tasted a heavy defeat last time out in Serie A when they were handed a 3-0 defeat at home to Inter Milan which also ended their previous impressive run of eight league matches without defeat.

Sassuolo had also picked up five wins during this eight-match period which came in the shape of wins over Spezia, Crotone, Bologna, Napoli and Hellas Verona, while five of Sassuolo’s last nine matches overall have also seen over 2.5 goals.

Whilst Sassuolo’s results at home so far this season have been a little circumspect, with one win, one defeat and three draws, the visitors have been fairly flying along on their travels as they possess a 100% winning record which includes winning each of their four matches on the trot to date.

Victories at Spezia 4-1, Bologna 4-3 along with 2-0 wins at Napoli and Hellas Verona mean that Sassuolo will fancy their chances of picking up something out of this encounter at Roma, especially as they’ve lost just one of their last 10 matches on the road.

Both Roma and Sassuolo have goals in them and three of the previous four meetings have seen over 2.5 goals so this Sunday could feature a few more!
