Manchester United will be hoping to hold onto top spot in Champions League Group H when Istanbul Basaksehir visit Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men currently sit just ahead of RB Leipzig on six points, while the Turkish side are level with PSG on three points at the bottom of the group.

Man Utd come into this clash on the back of a narrow 1-0 victory over West Brom. Despite enjoying 64% possession and racking up 17 shots, a Bruno Fernandes penalty proved to be the difference between the teams.

Believe it or not, that was the Red Devils’ first Premier League win at home this season, following two draws and two defeats at Old Trafford.

Man Utd have only managed to pick up 13 points from a possible 24 in the league this term, so it is hardly surprising that they are languishing in mid-table.

But on the European stage, it has been a completely different story. Man Utd beat PSG 2-1 on Matchday 1, before crushing Leipzig 5-0 a week later.

However, in their previous Champions League outing, Basaksehir best Man Utd, despite seeing just 31% possession.

The Turkish team will probably still be brimming with confidence following their famous victory over Solskjaer’s side.

First-half goals from Demba Ba and Edin Visca were made possible by some woeful Man Utd defending, although Basaksehir must still be given huge credit for their efforts.

After losing to Leipzig and PSG by a 2-0 scoreline on both occasions, the Turkish side now have some precious Champions League points on the board.

Following four straight victories in the Super Lig, Basaksehir suffered a 3-2 defeat to Besiktas on Saturday.

The reigning champions are already seven points behind frontrunners Fenerbahce, so it will be difficult for them to defend their crown.

Head-to-head: The only previous meeting between these two sides came at the beginning of November, with Basaksehir claiming a 2-1 home win.

Team news: Man Utd are currently without Jesse Lingard, Eric Bailly, Luke Shaw and Phil Jones. Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood will be assessed before Tuesday.

Muhammed Sengezer and Junior Caicara are both injury doubts for Basaksehir. Meart Gunok and Danijel Aleksic could miss out due to coronavirus complications.

Man Utd have not been at their best in recent months, but they should have more than enough quality to overcome Basaksehir this time around.

Forebet predicts that Man Utd will score over 2.5 goals on their way to victory on Tuesday. Also, both teams are likely score.
