Celta to cause Sevilla more frustration

Sevilla FC vs Celta de Vigo Preview 21/11/2020

Celta to cause Sevilla more frustration

Last season Sevilla won the Europa League and finished fourth place in La Liga. Some believed Los Nervionenses could be dangerous outsiders for the Spanish league title with the two giants Real Madrid and Barcelona not enjoying great transfer windows.

However, the Andalusians head into Saturday’s home match with Celta Vigo 12th place in the table after a highly underwhelming start to their league campaign.

Julen Lopetegui’s team has picked up just ten points from seven outings in La Liga this season. A 1-0 win over Osasuna in their last match ended a run of three straight defeats in La Liga for the Europa League winners.

A title challenge seems miles away, as the home side are even six points outside the top-four, although they do have games in hand on some teams above them in the early La Liga table.

One positive that has remained for Sevilla is their home form, as they have won five of their last six league games at the Sanchez Pizjuan.

That home record is largely due to their solid defence, as Lopetegui’s team have kept clean sheets in seven of their last nine league matches on home soil.

Celta Vigo look set for yet another season of struggle, as the Galicians are currently 17th place in La Liga, just a point outside the relegation zone.

The Celestes recently fired head coach Oscar Garcia due to their poor start to the league campaign. His replacement Argentinian coach  Eduardo German has a job on his hands lifting the team away from danger.

Despite what looks a talented squad of players on paper, Celta have failed to win in their previous seven outings. Last time out, the visitors drew 1-1 with Elche.

Forebet predicts that Sevilla’s struggles will continue in this clash, with the game finishing in a low-scoring draw.
