The Italian Serie A action returns this weekend after the international break with Saturday’s hosts, Juventus, taking on Cagliari at the Allianz Stadium with Juventus looking to extend their unbeaten run of matches in Serie A to eight matches overall.

Juventus still remain unbeaten so far in this new Serie A campaign but it’s been more of a slow and considered start from the Old Lady rather than a blistering one, having won three and drawn four of their seven matches to date.

The hosts currently occupy 5th place on the Italian top flight ladder but are just four points adrift of the early league leaders, AC Milan, but Juventus have a good opportunity to further reduce the points deficit with the visit of 11th placed Cagliari this Saturday.

Juventus have played just three matches at their Allianz Stadium so far this season but two of these resulted in victories over Sampdoria and Napoli, both by 3-0 margins, along with a 1-1 draw with Hellas Verona before the international break.

Juventus at home is a daunting prospect for any side as the hosts have suffered just one defeat out of their last 43 matches, let along a Cagliari outfit who have lost each of their previous four trips to the Allianz Stadium.

Onto Cagliari then, and the visitors sit mid-table in Serie A in 11th place after making a slow start to the new season which saw the visitors begin their campaign without a win from their first three matches of the new term.

A 1-1 draw with Sassuolo on the opening day of the season was followed by early back-to-back defeats against Lazio and Atalanta, but he visitors have since fought back by winning three of their subsequent four matches.

Victories over Torino 3-2 away from home, a 4-2 home win over Crotone and 2-0 over Sampdoria has at least helped lift Cagliari out of the doldrums and away from the early relegation zone and into the relative safety of a mid-table position but their recent successful run may well come to an end against a strong Juventus outfit on Saturday.

This particularly looks to be the case when looking at Cagliari’s previous visits to the Allianz Stadium which has resulted in 4-0, 3-1, 3-0 and 4-0 losses respectively and another heavy defeat could be on the cards again here.
