Brazil have won three games from three in CONMEBOL World Cup 2022 qualifying. Manager Tite’s team have scored 10 goals while allowing just two to opponents. On Tuesday (Wednesday UK time), Brazil will visit rival Uruguay in Montevideo.

Uruguay are fourth in CONMEBOL World Cup 2022 qualifying having taken six points from nine. A win against Brazil could take the Uruguayans to the top of the table depending on results elsewhere.

Manager Oscar Tabarez’s team have scored seven times while allowing five goals. Uruguay are coming off of an impressive 3-0 win versus Colombia. Luis Suarez scored his fourth goal in qualifying in three games.

Brazil are atop CONMEBOL World Cup 2022 qualifying standings. They have won all three games in qualifying with wins versus Bolivia, Peru, and Venezuela.

It should be noted that all three of Brazil’s wins came against the worst teams in qualifying. Bolivia, Peru, and Venezuela are all in the cellar in CONMEBOL standings.

Brazil and Uruguay have played 76 times in all competitions. Brazil lead in wins against Uruguay in all-time meetings. The Brazilians have a record of 38W-17D-21L.

Tite’s team are unbeaten in 10 straight games against Uruguay dating back to 2003. The Brazilians have won seven and drawn three of those last 10 games versus Uruguay.

Several Uruguay players are now unavailable for Tabarez due to positive COVID-19 tests. Luis Suarez, Matias Vina, and Rodrigo Munoz all tested positive this week for COVID. Meanwhile, Sebastian Coates and Ronald Araujo are injured.

Brazil have not had the positive COVID tests that Uruguay have had. It was initially reported the Roberto Firmino and Alisson Becker had tested positive, but that was falsely claimed. Firmino scored against Venezuela on matchday 3. He has three goals in three qualifying games.

Tite will be without forward Pedro due to injury along with Neymar, who is injured once more. Neymar is now preparing to return to Paris Saint-Germain to recover.

Players will return to their club teams following matchday 4. Both sides should have fitness and fatigue issues going into the game before heading back to club football.

Brazil have not played a team in qualifying as strong as Uruguay and it should show in the results. Uruguay should gain a score draw versus Brazil and strengthen their case for World Cup 2022 qualification.

Brazil are the top team in CONMEBOL but they will take a hit on matchday 4 against an ageing Uruguay side.
