Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have only played seven games in La Liga so far this season, while other sides have played eight or even nine times already.

Atletico sit 6pts clear of the Catalonians in 3rd spot, while Barcelona languish in 8th.

Saturday’s hosts are unbeaten in their last two games against Barcelona, drawing 2-2 in their last league game at the Camp Nou and winning 3-2 in the Super Cup back in January.

Atletico Madrid are usually known for their strong defensive record under Simone and, while that is still the case this season, Saturday’s hosts are also the second highest scorers in La Liga.

Atletico have only conceded 2-goals in the league this season and have scored an impressive 17-goals. Only the league leaders Real Sociedad have scored more goals than Simone’s men as things stand.

The hosts have won four of their last five matches in all competitions, running out 4-0 winners in their last game against Cadiz. Over 2.5 goals have been scored in four of Atletico’s last six outings and both teams have scored in three of their last four fixtures.

Three of the last five meetings between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have also seen both teams score and over 2.5 goals have been scored in each of the pair’s last two encounters. Luis Suarez has scored 5-goals in his opening six league games for Atletico Madrid and could come back to haunt his former employers this weekend.

Barcelona have won four, drawn one, and lost one of their last six matches in all competitions. The visitors have only kept one clean sheet in their last six outings, and their other five games during that period have seen both teams score.

The Catalonians have dropped points in their last two away games in La Liga, drawing 1-1 with Alaves and losing 1-0 to Getafe.

Forebet is expecting a close and competitive match between these two Spanish giants. Atletico Madrid are Forebet’s picks to win on Saturday as they have started the season so well and look equally as good going forward as they are in defence.

While Atletico have proved tricky to score against in the league, Forebet are also backing both teams to score on Saturday and for over 2.5 goals to be produced.
