On Sunday evening, Hertha Berlin host Wolfsburg at the Olympiastadion Berlin, as the home side look to end a horrendous recent run of form in the Bundesliga.
Despite big expectations and investment in recent times, Hertha Berlin have struggled for results this season.
While some were talking about the team from the Germany capital at the beginning of the campaign as potential top-six challengers, they have played more like a team fighting to avoid relegation so far this season.
A 2-1 defeat at league leaders RB Leipzig last time out means that they have suffered four straight defeats in the Bundesliga, having conceded at least two goals in each loss. Maybe a small consolation of late for Hertha is that they have only failed to score in just one of their previous nine Bundesliga outings.
The home side has struggled for home wins of late, as Bruno Labbadia’s team have won just once in four league games at the Olympiastadion, suffering three defeats in the process. To make matters worse they have also conceded at least two goals in all three of those recent home losses.
Wolfsburg are unbeaten in their first five Bundesliga games of the season but have won just two of their last nine matches in the German top-flight dating back to last season. A 2-1 home win over Arminia Bielefeld last weekend ended a run of four straight league draws for the Wolves. The win also ended a five-game winless run in the Bundesliga for the visitors.
Oliver Glasner’s team had been involved in tight, low-scoring games before the win last time out, as their previous four league matches had all produced under 2.5 goals.
Wolfsburg have been tough to beat on their travels of late in the German top-flight, losing just once in their last ten away games.
Forebet predicts that Hertha Berlin’s woes will continue in this clash with Wolfsburg recording a victory in a high-scoring encounter.
