The Champions League has reached gameweek two, with intriguing clashes taking place throughout Europe over the next two nights. One such clash is Lazio visit Club Brugge in Group F of the competition.
Both teams kicked off their group stage campaign with victories, which could give them the upper hand in what looks like a very open group that also includes Zenit St Petersburg and Borussia Dortmund.
The home team have certainly experienced a brighter start to their campaign domestically than the visitors.
Philippe Clement’s team are second in the Belgian top-flight and started their European campaign with an impressive 2-1 win in St Petersburg.
The win may mean a change of fortunes for the Brugge in the Champions League, as before the game they had failed to win in six games in European football’s elite competition.
The Belgian team need to improve their home record in the Champions League if they are to have a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition, as Club Brugge have won just two home matches in their last 13 outings.
Lazio started their European campaign with a surprise 3-1 win over Dortmund at the Stadio Olimpico. Last season this result would not have been such a surprise.
However, the Italian team have started their domestic campaign in unconvincing form. The win against BVB ended a run of three games without a win that raised questions about the team’s performances.
Since the win on gameweek one, the club from the Italian capital has also beaten Bologna 2-1 in Serie A. The back-to-back victories will boost the visitor's spirits ahead of this potentially tricky clash.
Forebet predicts that this game will end in an entertaining draw that will keep both teams Champions League campaigns ticking over nicely.
