England will be aiming to extend their lead at the top of Nations League Group A2 when they welcome Denmark to Wembley on Wednesday.

The two sides played out a dull goalless draw on Matchday 2, so both managers will no doubt be looking for more from their players this time around.

Fresh from beating the number one ranked team in the world, England will come into this game brimming with confidence.

The Three Lions went behind to an early Romelu Lukaku penalty against Belgium on Sunday, but goals from Marcus Rashford and Mason Mount saw England come from behind and win.

Having beaten Iceland on Matchday 1, England sit one point clear at the top of Group A2, with third-place Demark three points behind.

Gareth Southgate’s side are now unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions, including Euro qualifiers, Nations League and friendlies.

They have scored a combined total of 23 goals during that period – an average of just over three goals per game.

Denmark also come into this game on the back of a couple of impressive results. The Danes secured a 4-0 friendly win over the Faroe Islands last week before beating Iceland 3-0.

Inter Milan star Christian Eriksen got on the scoresheet as Denmark dominated Iceland. The visitors enjoyed 67% possession and also registered 16 shots.

However, that was Denmark’s first Nations League win of the season, following a 2-0 defeat to Belgium on Matchday 1 and the goalless draw with England.

Looking at the bigger picture, Denmark have only lost one of their previous 18 games in all competitions, so they have plenty of reasons for optimism.

Head-to-head: England and Denmark have faced each other 20 times over the years, with the Three Lions losing on just three occasions.

England are on a three-game unbeaten run against the Danes at the moment, with two wins and a draw coming in that time.

Team news: Harry Kane looks set to replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin in attack, while Ben Chilwell could come in at left-back for England after returning a negative coronavirus test.

Star duo Martin Braithwaite and Christian Eriksen look set for their third start in eight days for Denmark. The Danes have no injury concerns heading into Wednesday’s clash.

This fixture has failed to produce a lot of goals in recent encounters, so this is likely to be a low-scoring affair.

Despite England being viewed as favourites to win this game, Forebet predicts that Denmark will hold the Three Lions to another goalless draw.
