The first match to be played on Sunday in the English Premier League is between Sheffield United and Leeds United. The game will be played at Bramall Lane with the hosts aiming to pick up their first points of the new season while the visitors are hoping to claim their second win of the campaign.
Sheffield United have had a difficult start to the 2020/21 Premier League season and started with a disappointing 2-0 defeat at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Sheffield United conceded the opening goal after only three minutes and the deficit was doubled on six minutes, leaving The Blades with a mountain to climb.
The following game was an away fixture in the League Cup against Burnley and despite drawing the match 1-1, Sheffield United went out via a penalty shootout. Then came their second Premier league game of the season away against Aston Villa. A red card in the first half for John Egan put Sheffield United on the backfoot and they eventually conceded the deciding goal in the second half to lose the match 1-0.
Chris Wilder will be keen to pick up a victory as soon as possible this season as Sheffield United have lost each of their last 5 matches in the Premier League. They have failed to score a goal in 4 of their last 5 Premier League games and will need to start producing in the attacking third.
Leeds united won promotion from the Championship last season and started their Premier League campaign with a difficult fixture away against the defending champions, Liverpool. Unfortunately, Leeds United conceded a fourth goal from the penalty spot in the 88th minute and could not get back into the match.
Having suffered defeat via a penalty shootout at home against Hull City in the League Cup, Leeds United won their first Premier League game of the season last weekend. It is clear Leeds united have the ability to score goals this season but keeping a clean sheet is going to be tough.
Team news and Sheffield United will be without the suspended John Egan following his red card last week. Striker Lys Mousset is out with an ankle injury.
Leeds United are without Adam Forshaw who has a hip injury. Pablo Hernandez is the only other player who could be unavailable for the visitors.
Sheffield United will be desperate to record their first victory of the season in this game. Their first goal will be to prevent Leeds United from scoring and if they can do that, the Leeds defence has proved extremely vulnerable early this season. Sheffield United could come out on top and with a clean sheet.
