Czech Republic and Scotland’s Nations League clash will go ahead on Monday, despite the game originally being postponed due to health and safety concerns.

The Czech FA called off the game after some of their players came into contact with a backroom staff member who tested positive for coronavirus, but UEFA insisted on Saturday that the match would go ahead.

Czech Republic come into this game top of Group B2 after winning their opening match, while Scotland are third following a draw.

Despite enjoying 60% possession and recording 21 shots (5 on target), it took Czech Republic until after half time to open the scoring against Slovakia on Friday.

Vladimir Coufal put them ahead early in the second half, before a Borek Dockal penalty made it 2-0 with 53 minutes on the clock.

Michael Krmencik scored a third goal for Czech Republic on 86 minutes, before Ivan Schranz grabbed a late consolation for Slovakia to see the game end 3-1.

Czech Republic have now lost just one of their previous five games, with impressive victories over Montenegro, England and Kosovo coming towards the end of their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.

After securing five wins from eight qualifying matches, Czech Republic finished second in Group A to book their spot at next summer’s European Championship.

Meanwhile, it looked as though Scotland were heading for a win over Israel on Friday, but the game eventually finished 1-1.

The Scots racked up 10 shots to Israel’s 5, with Ryan Christie giving them the lead on the stroke of half time from the penalty spot.

However, Steve Clarke’s side failed to hold onto their advantage, and Eran Zahavi’s 73rd-minute goal saw the game end level.

Scotland have also lost one of their last five outings, beating San Marino, Cyprus and Kazakhstan during that period.

Unfortunately, Scotland finished third in Group I – behind Belgium and Russia – so they will not be competing at next summer’s Euros.

Head-to-head: These two sides have faced each other seven times over the years, with Czech Republic claiming four wins and Scotland managing two.

However, Scotland are unbeaten in their previous two games against the Czechs, drawing 2-2 in 2011 before winning 1-0 in 2016.

Team news: Czech Republic will be without Tomas Soucek and Patrik Schick as the pair are self-isolating. It is unclear which other members of the squad will be forced to miss out.

As for Scotland, Clarke has no fresh injury worries, although the manager has hinted at a change of personnel and formation.

With Czech Republic missing a number of key players, Forebet predicts that Scotland will edge this game. A clean sheet could also be on the cards for the visitors.
