On Wednesday night (GMT), Las Sabanas host Jalapa in a game that could be crucial to the visitor’s top-six chances in the Nicaraguan Primera Division.
Las Sabanas are currently bottom of the table, having picked up just ten points from their opening 14 league games. The home side finds themselves eight points outside the top-six and qualification for the next round of the competition.
Unsurprisingly, considering their position in the Nicaraguan top-flight table, Las Sabanas have not been in great form of late. In fact, Jorge Vanegas’ team has won just once in their last 12 outings in the Primera Division.

However, there have been signs of improvement in recent games, as a 1-1 draw at Deportivo Ocotal last time out means they have taken four points from a possible six in the league.
Las Sabanas are also now three home games unbeaten after a 2-1 win over Real Madriz in their last home game in the Primera Division. On the flip-side, though the win ended a seven-game winless run on home soil.
Jalapa are currently fifth-place in the table, five points clear of seventh place Juventus Managua. Their recent form has been highly inconsistent. A 1-0 home defeat against Chinandega last time out ended a mini-run of two straight league wins.
Their recent matches in the Nicaraguan top-flight have been low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in nine of their last ten matches.
Jalapa have been travel sick of late, as they have won just one of their last seven matches on their travels in the Primera Division. However, that one win came in their last away game in a 2-1 win at Deportivo Ocotal.
Forebet predicts that the visitors will record a second straight away win in a relatively low-scoring encounter.
