On Saturday afternoon, Hoffenheim host Bayer Leverkusen at the PreZero Arena, in what could be a massive game for the two sides hopes of securing European football courtesy of a top-six finish in the German top-flight.
Hoffenheim are just on the cusp of the European spots, three points adrift of the top-six in the Bundesliga in fact. A recent decent run in the league of three wins in their last four games has certainly aided their chances of moving back into those European spots.
Last time out in the German top-flight, Alfred Schreuder’s team recorded an impressive 3-0 win at Werder Bremen.
The result means that the home side has scored at least twice in three of their last league outings. It also means that five of Hoffenheim’s last six Bundesliga matches have produced over 2.5 goals.
The home side must improve their home results if they are to have any chance of finishing in the European spots though, as they have won just once in their last five league games at the PreZero Arena.
Bayer Leverkusen are currently four points ahead of the home side in the table, two points outside the Champions League spots.
A run of three straight league wins has kept Bayer in with a chance of a top-four finish this season. In their last league outing, Peter Bosz’s side comfortably defeated Fortuna Dusseldorf 3-0.
Bayer have been in impressive away form of late, winning four of their last five Bundesliga matches on their travels. Bosz’s team have been relatively prolific on the road in the German top-flight of late, as they have scored at least twice in seven of their last 11 away matches.
Forebet predicts that Bayer will enhance their chances of returning to the top-four in the near future by recording a victory in a high-scoring encounter.
