Burnley gave themselves some breathing space last weekend in the race for Premier League safety. The Clarets shocked Leicester City 2-1 at home moving five points away from the bottom three.

Now, Burnley head to Old Trafford to take on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United. The Red Devils are coming off of a 2-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Manchester United had plenty of chances to level the score throughout the game but could never get past Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker. Solskjaer will expect better from his team against Burnley.

Seven points separate Manchester United and Burnley in the league table. It doesn’t seem like many points, but it is actually quite a gap due to the hot and cold form Burnley have exhibited.

The Red Devils have collected 22 of 33 points at Old Trafford and have done well on home turf. Burnley’s away form has been diabolical as a mere nine points from 33 have been registered by Sean Dyche’s team.

Burnley have scored just 10 times on their travels for an average of 0.91 goals per road fixture. Meanwhile, Burnley have conceded 20 times away from home, which is joint third-most in the Premier League. Dyche has watched his team lose back to back away matches by a combined 4-0 scoreline.

Manchester United are unbeaten in their last nine matches in the league against Burnley. Five of those games ended in wins for the Red Devils, including their match from earlier this season, which finished in a 2-0 victory.

Solskjaer has a major injury problem on his hands as striker Marcus Rashford is ruled out for the next six weeks at the very least with a stress fracture in his back. Rashford’s absence was apparent against Liverpool as Manchester United struggled to get through the home team’s defence.

Rashford has contributed to 18 of Manchester United’s 36 points. Rashford joins a long list of injuries that include Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.

Dyche’s injury problems have eased up this week. Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Ashley Barnes are both ruled out of the game. Gudmundson continues to go from one injury to the next and is suffering from a hamstring problem now. Barnes has a groin strain.

Although Burnley won versus Leicester City at the weekend at home, their away form has been so poor that there is only one result for Wednesday night.

Manchester United will win to nil and tally over 2.5 goals against Burnley. The Clarets have lost to nil seven times this season in all competitions. The Red Devils should hold them once more.
