On Wednesday night, Everton host Leicester at Goodison Park in one of the biggest games of the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

The appointment of club icon Duncan Ferguson as interim Everton boss seems to have lifted spirits at the Merseyside club. The Scot is unbeaten in two matches, having recorded a win over Chelsea before a 1-1 draw at Manchester United last time out. With reports suggesting that Carlo Ancelotti is close to becoming the next Toffees boss, this could be Ferguson’s last game in charge as interim boss.

The Carabao Cup campaign has been one of the few highlights in an otherwise poor season so far for Everton. The team from Merseyside have beaten Lincoln City, Sheffield Wednesday and Watford to book their quarter-final place.

Although they were not the greatest opponents, the fact that the Toffees scored at least twice in each game is a positive for the Merseysider’s.

However, one negative of late for Everton is their growing injury list. Full-back Lucas Digne joined the long list of casualties in the draw against Manchester United.

The home side faces a Leicester team who are undefeated in their last ten games in all competitions, having recorded nine wins. A 1-1 draw with struggling Norwich at the weekend ended a nine-game winning run for the Foxes. However, the draw may just be a slight blip for Brendan Rodgers team, who have looked so impressive this season.

Like the hosts, Leicester have not had the hardest of ties in previous rounds, seeing off Newcastle, Luton Town and Burton Albion. The Foxes will be playing their fourth straight match away from home in this competition.

Boss Rodgers has decided to field weakened teams in the previous rounds of the competition. However, with it being such a big clash, the Northern Irishman may choose to name a strong team.

Forebet predicts that Leicester will record a victory in a low-scoring clash to book their place in the last four of the Carabao Cup.
