Brentford’s familiar pattern in the Championship of winning at home but losing away continued during the week when they registered a 2-1 home win against Cardiff City which followed a 2-1 defeat away at Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.
Although Brentford have suffered recent back-to-back defeats on their travels with losses incurred at Blackburn Rovers and the aforementioned Sheffield Wednesday, The Bees have been pretty consistent on home turf at Griffin Park as the hosts have won 4 of their last 5 matches in the Championship.
Victories against Millwall, Reading, Luton Town in a 7-0 demolition of The Hatters and Cardiff City have helped Brentford up the table to within striking distance of the play-off pack as The Bees continue to punch above their weight in the second tier.
Despite losing former striker, Maupay to Premier League outfit, Brighton, striker Ollie Watkins (13 goals) has been banging in the goals for the hosts and along with fellow forwards, Mbeumo (7 goals) and Dasilva (6 goals), the hosts look in good shape to hit the back of the net again this Saturday against Fulham.
Fulham suffered a second defeat on the trot in midweek when they came a cropper away at Preston North End losing 2-1 and this poor result followed last Saturday’s surprise loss to fellow high-fliers, Bristol City, in a 2-1 defeat at Craven Cottage.
The visitors still occupy 3rd place on the Championship table but the likes of Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Preston North End are now catching up while Saturday’s hosts, Brentford, are now just 2 points adrift of The Cottagers prior to this important clash at Griffin Park.
Results away from home have produced a mixed return for Fulham so far this season as the visitors have recently picked up wins at Birmingham City and Swansea City but have also fallen to defeats at Stoke City and Preston North End.
In addition, Fulham have lost the second highest number of matches away from home (3) behind only to Preston (6) and Scott Parker’s side will need to improve results on their travels if they’re to be considered serious promotion prospects.
To summarise, once again Brentford have proved they’re a hard team to beat at Griffin Park and given Fulham’s recent wobbles, The Bees should at least avoid defeat here and can be backed with the AH0 (draw no bet option) here.
