On Friday night, Lille will look to consolidate their place in the Ligue One Champions League spots, as they welcome Montpellier to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
The home side is currently third place in the table, six points behind second-place Marseille in the fight for the much-coveted European berths.
Lille were the closest challengers to big-spending champions PSG last season in the French top-flight, albeit distant challengers. However, LOSC started the campaign in unconvincing form.
The home side’s form has shown signs of returning in recent games, as a 1-0 win over Brest means that Christophe Galtier’s team have now won their last three league games, all by a scoreline of 1-0.
Those recent wins have contributed to Lille’s last five Ligue One matches producing under 2.5 goals.
Lille have been formidable opponents at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in the French top-flight of late, as they are unbeaten in 13 home games, having recorded an impressive 11 wins. They have also kept clean sheets in five of their last six league matches on home soil, including their last four matches.
Montpellier are midtable in the French top-flight table. However, an away win would move the visitors to within a point of their hosts in the table.
Unfortunately for the visitors, wins have been hard to find in recent Ligue One matches, as they have won just once in their last four outings in the French top-flight.
Montpellier have been difficult to beat of late though in Ligue One, as a 3-1 home defeat against PSG ended a seven-game unbeaten run for the visitors in French top-flight.
The visitors do not have a great recent away record in Ligue One, as they have drawn their last three away matches, but have failed to win in nine outings.
Forebet predicts that Lille will continue their recent good run of form by recording a victory in yet another low-scoring encounter.
