Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus scored a hat-trick as Pep Guardiola’s side came from behind to win their last Champions League group game at Dinamo Zagreb.

Dani Olmo put the Croatians ahead on 10 minutes. The Spaniard netted an excellent volley to give the underdogs a surprise early lead.

However, City dominated large spells of the first-half, and levelled on 34 minutes when Jesus headed home a cross from Riyad Mahrez.

The English side were ahead five minutes after the break. Jesus exchanged a neat one-two with Phil Foden before slotting the ball into the bottom right corner.

Four minutes later, Jesus completed his hat-trick by converting a low cross from left-back Benjamin Mendy.

Foden – who put in another eye-catching display – completed the scoring on 84 minutes. The 19-year-old converted Bernardo Silva’s assist to cap off a fine away performance.

City qualify for the Round of 16 as Group C winners after going unbeaten throughout the entire group stage.

Dinamo finish bottom of the group following Atalanta’s impressive 3-0 win at Shakhtar Donetsk in the other Group C clash

The home side started well, but Man City bossed the game after Dinamo scored. It was the perfect away performance by the visitors; frustrating the Croatians by controlling the possession.

As the stats suggest, Dinamo had very few clear-cut chances. In contrast, City were able to create a number of excellent openings thanks to their slick build-up play.

Man of the Match: Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City)

Due to Sergio Aguero’s injury, the 22-year-old has featured prominently for City in recent games. He repaid his manager’s faith with yet another dazzling display.

The Brazilian bullied the Dinamo backline and has now scored five goals in his last five starts. As well as netting his second ever Champions League hat-trick, he also bagged his 100th career goal.

Pep Guardiola required a mature and complete performance from his understudy striker, and Gabriel Jesus did not disappoint.
