Having lost two of their last three matches in the Bundesliga, Friday night’s hosts, Hoffenheim, will no doubt be keen to return to winning ways when they play host to Augsburg at their PreZero Arena as Hoffenheim look to keep tabs on the top six.

The 8th placed Hoffenheim have recently suffered defeats to Mainz 5-1 and RB Leipzig 3-1 in a couple of heavy losses and were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at home by third from bottom outfit, Fortuna Dusseldorf, so they’ll be determined to put in a better shift on Friday night.

Results at home have produced a mixed bag of returns for Hoffenheim though, and recent weeks have seen the hosts gain victories over Schalke and Paderborn but also fall to defeats against Borussia Moenchengladbach and Mainz, so anything could happen in this upcoming clash with Augsburg!

Perhaps the best indicator to the outcome of this encounter though may lie in the head-to-heads as Hoffenheim have won the last three meetings on the trot and 6 of the last 8 encounters overall.

Onto Augsburg and the visitors sit in 12th place on the Bundesliga ladder with a total of 4 league wins to date in this German top flight campaign, although 3 of these 4 wins have been achieved on home turf at their WWK Arena where they’ve recorded recent back-to-back wins against Hertha Berlin and Mainz.

Recent overall form has also picked up too for the visitors as they’ve gained 3 wins from their last 4 matches which includes a 1-0 win away from home at second from bottom club, Paderborn, but this has been Augsburg’s only success so far this season on their travels.

With just 1 away win from their 7 away matches so far this term, this could be a tricky trip to Hoffenheim despite the recent problems their hosts have had as Augsburg’s exploits on the road in the Bundesliga haven’t set the world alight.

Indeed, Augsburg have managed just 2 away wins out of their last 19 matches on their travels, and together with their poor historical record overall against Friday night’s hosts, Hoffenheim, this could be a long and ultimately disappointing evening for the visitors.

Hoffenheim have held the upper hand over Augsburg for some time now and their dominance looks set to continue on Friday night.
