Dortmund to record tight victory over Slavia Prague

We are now at matchday six of the Champions League and one of the groups with qualification for the last-16 still to be decided is Group F.

While Catalan giants Barcelona have already sealed qualification and top spot, Inter and Dortmund are embroiled in a battle for the second spot in the competition’s knockout stages.

Dortmund are currently third in the group, but they host bottom of the table Slavia Prague in their final group game at the Signal Iduna on Tuesday night, with Inter having to face the group leaders at the Giuseppe Meazza.

The German side head into the midweek clash level on points with the Nerazzurri in the group. BVB have to better Inter’s result to qualify for the last-16 of the competition.

However, the home sides recent record in Europe’s elite competition is poor. BVB have won just two of their last seven matches in the Champions League. A record of just one win in their last four home games in the competition is also unconvincing heading into such a big game.

Lucien Favre’s team won the reverse fixture and will need a repeat to give themselves the best chance they can of making the knockout stages.

Slavia Prague currently sit bottom of the group, having taken just two points from their five group games. However, those two points were picked up in away games at Barcelona and Inter, which are respectable results for any team in European football. Those results suggest that Slavia are not going to be pushovers in this clash and that they are a bigger threat on their travels.

Slavia have found victories hard to come by in Europe’s elite competition of late, winning just two of their last 12 matches in the Champions League.
