One of the final matches to kick off in the Premier League this weekend is on Sunday afternoon as Liverpool welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Anfield.

Liverpool begin this match at the top of the Premier League and will want to at least maintain the current lead over 2nd place Manchester City. Tottenham Hotspur on the other hand are looking to improve on their current 7th place position and a win in this match would be fantastic for their season.

Liverpool played in the Champions League on Wednesday night and came away from Belgium with a 4-1 victory over Genk. That result means they remain unbeaten in their last 7 games in all competitions and it was a good way to get back to winning ways following the draw with Manchester United in the Premier League.

Liverpool have dropped only 2 points in the Premier League this season, winning 8 and drawing one of their 9 matches. They are on a run of 11 straight home wins in the league and you must go back to the match against Leicester City last season to find the last time they dropped points at Anfield.

Trends show Liverpool are currently on a run of 28 home games in all competitions without defeat and have lost only one of their last 47 Premier League matches. Liverpool have scored 2 or more goals in 24 of their last 30 games in all competitions.

Tottenham Hotspur make the trip north having recorded a win of their own in the Champions League on Tuesday night. It was a very important victory for Spurs as they had failed to win any of their previous 3 games in all competitions. Having suffered a heavy home defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Tottenham Hotspur then lost 3-0 away to Brighton in the Premier League.

Last weekend, they were expected to secure a convincing home win against Watford but failed and were forced to settle for a point in a 1-1 draw.

Trends show Tottenham Hotspur have won only one of their last 4 Premier League games. That win came at home against Southampton and Spurs have lost 8 of their last 10 away league matches. Tottenham Hotspur have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 11 away Premier League games.

Looking ahead to the team news and Liverpool welcome back Mohamed Salah who missed the trip to Manchester United last week. Nathaniel Clyne and Xherdan Shaqiri remain on the treatment table and there are doubts over the fitness of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip.

Tottenham Hotspur are still without goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and he is not expected to return until January. Ryan Sessegnon is the only other doubt and Spurs are expected to be at full strength in the outfield positions.

Despite winning on Tuesday night in the Champions League, this is going to be a much tougher task for Tottenham Hotspur. Their away Premier League form as not being good recently and although they may find the back of the net, expect to see Liverpool come out on top.
