Swansea City were held to a third draw in five matches on the weekend when they drew 1-1 away at Championship strugglers, Barnsley, but The Swans now return to the Liberty Stadium for Tuesday night’s clash with Brentford where the hosts will be keen to return to winning ways.

That point has maintained Swansea’s challenge for an automatic promotion spot in the second tier as they trail 2nd placed Leeds United by just 1 point and league leaders, West Brom, by 3 points ahead of the midweek action.

Overall results have seen Swansea’s return drop in recent weeks as the Welsh club have managed to record just the 1 win out of their last 6 matches, which was a 2-1 win away from home at surprise package, Charlton Athletic, at The Valley.

Defeats to Nottingham Forest and Stoke City (both at home) have served as a wake-up call for Steve Cooper’s side who will be looking to rekindle the kind of form which saw The Swans win 5 of their opening 6 matches of this new campaign.

Brentford stole the points in a lively 3-2 London clash against Millwall at Griffin Park on Saturday which has lifted The Bees up into a more respectable looking mid-table position of 13th in the Championship.

The visitors have lost just 1 out of their last 5 matches overall, which was a 1-0 loss away from home at high-flying Nottingham Forest, but whilst Brentford’s form at home has never been in question as they’ve lost just once at home so far this season, perhaps too many draws have held the London side back this term.

The loss of star striker Neil Maupay to Brighton has certainly had an effect upon their goalscoring prowess although forward Olly Watkins (8 goals) has filled the breach admirably to date.

However, what continues to be a problem is Brentford’s form away from home in the Championship; The Bees have collected just 5 away wins out of their last 31 matches on the road in the second tier, and if they’re to become genuine challengers for a top six finish then they need to dramatically improve on their travels.

To sum up, Swansea City’s form has dipped a little in recent weeks but they stand a decent chance of bouncing back with a win against a poor-travelling Brentford side on Tuesday night.
