Manchester City could reel in league leaders Liverpool with a win against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool kick off against Leicester City 23-hours prior to Manchester City playing Wolverhampton Wanderers. If Liverpool drop points, Manchester City could be within as few as two points of the league leaders.

The Cityzens have won two straight matches in the Premier League and picked up a 2-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League in midweek. Despite struggling to score against the Croatians, Manchester City found two goals in the final 24 minutes.

Wolverhampton Wanderers collected their first Premier League win of the season last weekend against Watford. Wolves have taken seven points from 27 possible and commitments in the Europa League have prevented the team from fully focusing on the league season.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo’s team picked up a win on Thursday night away to Besiktas in the Europa League with the last kick of the game. Willy Bolly’s brilliant finish from a set-piece gave Wolverhampton Wanderers their first points in the Europa League group stage.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have won two matches on the bounce and will aim to take a scalp from Manchester City on Sunday. Wolves are unbeaten in three of their last four matches against Manchester City in all competitions.

During the summer, Wolves won the Asia Premier League Trophy in preseason with a penalty shootout win over the Cityzens. Although Manchester City won 3-0 at the Etihad last term against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Santo’s Wolves earned a 1-1 draw at Molineaux.

Manchester City must be weary of Wolverhampton Wanderers. They are not a pushover team and despite their struggles, have the players to take points off of Manchester City once more.

Pep Guardiola watched his team lose to newly-promoted Norwich City in September. If Manchester City aren’t focused, they can drop points once more.

Manchester City centre-back John Stones is still ruled out due to a thigh injury. Fernandinho, who has excelled as a centre-back recently, will continue playing in the heart of defence.

Kevin De Bruyne has been Manchester City’s best attacking player but could miss out due to a groin issue. De Bruyne was left out of the team in midweek due to the injury and could be rested with the international break coming up for an extended period off.

Although Wolves have won their last two matches, Manchester City will overpower the Black Country club. Wolverhampton Wanderers have exerted too much energy in the Europa League and Manchester City will pick up the win with over 2.5 goals being scored.
