Huddersfield Town manager, Danny Cowley, is only 3 matches into his new tenure at the John Smith’s Stadium but already the grass roots of recovery are starting to shoot through the previous mire of earlier unsuccessful managers of Saturday’s Yorkshire hosts.
This may be a little harsh on David Wagner who had engineered Huddersfield’s return to the English top flight after decades of trying, and indeed, kept Huddersfield up in their first ever season in the Premier League.

However, poor results resulted in his departure and although Jan Siewart took over the reigns, he also failed to ignite any kind of response from the players. Enter former Lincoln City manager, Danny Cowley though, and The Terriers have already made a significant improvement under Cowley.
Although they lost 4-2 at West Brom there were quite a few positives and these began to show in their subsequent 1-1 draw with Millwall and their recent midweek 1-0 win away at Stoke City.
Having lost 4 of their first 5 matches at home this season though, it’s Cowley’s job to deliver Huddersfield’s first win of the season at their John Smith’s Stadium where goals have been few and far between, with 5 of Huddersfield’s last 7 home matches resulting under 2.5 goals.
Hull City sit mid-table in the Championship and have made a reasonable start to the new campaign under new manager, Grant McCann, and despite a slow start to the season, The Tigers are now starting to gather momentum.
Hull registered just 1 win out of their first 5 matches of the new Championship season which was gained over Reading in a 2-1 win at their KCOM Stadium where they’ve won 2 of their total of 3 wins to date this season.
However, the visitors have since turned things around with a 5-match unbeaten run which includes wins against Luton Town and Sheffield Wednesday, along with 3 draws with Millwall, Wigan Athletic and Cardiff City.
Hull will therefore be keen to extend their unbeaten run against Huddersfield although their hosts already seem a very different prospect to that of just a few weeks ago, and The Tigers may find their visit to the John Smith’s Stadium is far from a foregone conclusion in this clash.
The prospect of a low-scoring draw looks fairly likely here as Cowley continues to tighten and organise Huddersfield’s defence, with goals at a premium in this one.
