Liverpool face Red Bull Salzburg at Anfield on Wednesday, with the hosts looking to pick up their first Champions League points season.

The reigning European champions conceded two goals in the last 10 minutes of their game on Matchday 1, which led to an opening day defeat at the hands of Napoli.

However, Liverpool’s domestic form has been perfect, as they have registered 7 wins from 7 Premier League matches this term.

The Red’s already find themselves five points clear of second-place Manchester City, and will be eager to carry their domestic form onto the European stage.

Liverpool have been scoring at an average of just over 2.5 goals per game in the league this season and have conceded just 5 goals at the other end.

They come into this match on the back of a hard-fought away win at Sheffield United, so they will no doubt be welcoming a home fixture.

Salzburg are also sitting at the top of their domestic league and are unbeaten in 9 Austrian Bundesliga games this term.

They have scored a whopping 40 league goals already this season, at an average of just under 4.5 goals per game.

Salzburg thrashed Genk 6-2 on Matchday 1 but a trip to Anfield poses a completely different test altogether for the Austrian side.

Erling Braut Haaland scored a first-half hat-trick in his team’s tournament opener and the 19-year-old is also leading the goal scoring charts in the Austrian Bundesliga with 11 goals from 9 matches.

Salzburg hammered Austria Wien 4-1 in their previous match, with Sekou Koita bagging a brace.

Liverpool have been handed a boost as first-choice goalkeeper Alisson has returned to training. Still, he is unlikely to feature on Wednesday. Xherdan Shaqiri will also be unavailable for selection due to a calf tear.

As for Salzburg, goal-scoring sensation Erling Braut Haaland missed out on their last match through illness, but will surely be desperate to return to the starting eleven against Liverpool.

Despite Salzburg’s blistering domestic form, Liverpool are also on a fantastic run, and the Austrians are likely to find it hard to get a result on Wednesday.

Liverpool are stronger in every department and their recent home record in all competitions is frightening.

Forebet predicts a comfortable Liverpool victory and the home side should keep a clean sheet in the process.
