Although it is very early in the Bundesliga season, RB Leipzig are starting to look like genuine title challengers this season. Die Roten Bullen face a test of those title credentials on Saturday afternoon as they host in-form Schalke at the Red Bull Arena.
A 3-0 win at Werder Bremen last time out means that Julian Nagelsmann’s team have started the new campaign with a five-match unbeaten run, including four victories.
The home sides good start to their campaigns mean that they are currently top of the table, two points ahead of reigning champions Bayern Munich. If they can maintain anything like their current form for the rest of the season, then the Bavarians recent record of domination in the Bundesliga will be under major threat.
A key to their good season so far has been their attacking displays, as Nagelsmann’s team has scored at least two goals in all four of their victories this season. German international striker Timo Werner has already bagged himself five goals in as many Bundesliga outings.
Leipzig are undefeated in nine home matches in the German top-flight, having lost just one of their last 20 league games at the Red Bull Arena.
After picking up just one point from their opening two Bundesliga games this season, Schalke head to Leipzig on the back of a three-game winning run. David Wagner’s team defeated Mainz 2-1 last time out. The game saw the visitors score more than twice for the third straight match in the German top-flight.
S04 have been difficult opponents on their travels in the Bundesliga of late, as they are undefeated in six matches on the road. However, the visitors have won just three of their last 15 away matches in the German top-flight.
Schalke could prove to be difficult opponents for the ambitious home side. However, Forebet predicts Leipzig will come out top in a highly-entertaining clash.
