Hull City extended their unbeaten run to three matches in the Championship last Saturday when they registered an impressive 3-0 win away from home at newly-promoted Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.
The hosts had previously picked up points in back-to-back draws with Millwall and Wigan Athletic in 1-1 and 2-2 draws, as Grant McCann’s side seem to be staging a recovery after suffering recent back-to-back defeats to Blackburn Rovers 1-0 and a 3-1 loss to Bristol City, both of which were at home.
The Tigers have previously lost just 3 of their last 18 matches at home in the Championship though, and their defeats to Blackburn and Bristol City were to teams that have already picked up at least a couple of away wins to date this season.
Not so Cardiff City, so Hull will be reasonably confident that they can get something from this encounter at their KCOM Stadium as they look to exploit Cardiff’s slow start away from home in this campaign.
Onto Cardiff City, and after a stuttering start to their new Championship campaign, Cardiff bring a 5-match unbeaten run into this Saturday afternoon clash on Humberside having recorded recent wins against Huddersfield Town and Middlesbrough, as well as picking up points in draws with Blackburn Rovers, Fulham and Derby County.
The Bluebirds didn’t make the best of starts though upon their return to the second tier as they were handed defeats by Wigan Athletic and Reading, both of which were away from home.
Cardiff’s results away from home haven’t been entirely convincing either as the Welsh club have registered just 2 wins out of their last 9 matches on their travels, which were achieved at Norwich City and Saturday’s hosts, Hull City, both recorded last season.
This season has seen Cardiff pick up just 2 points from a possible 12 on offer away from home so far this season though, so it seems they’ll have their work cut out to get all three points on the road against an improving Hull City outfit.
Both teams seem fairly evenly matched heading into this encounter at the KCOM Stadium so we could see the points shared in perhaps a 1-1 draw in this one.
